Friends of People’s Park

Do you use People’s Park and care about its future? We love this fabulous green space and thought a Friends of People’s Park group would be a good way to help look after it.

We are a group of local residents who all care about our park. We want to help care for it and promote it as a safe and beautiful space, whether:

  • just passing through
  • using it for recreation
  • as an important local space for environmental conservation

We’re a sub-group of Friends of High Town (FoHT), the local resident’s association, which has a particular focus on People’s Park, including Bell’s Close recreation ground and Pope’s Meadow.

FoHT has already organised events and activities in the park, been a key player in Luton Borough Council consultations about it and has been instrumental in maintaining its Green Flag status year after year. Friends of People’s Park is taking that on and we have already helped create and nurture the orchard near the end of Arden Place, run litter picks, pruning courses and conservation activity mornings.

We want to:

  • create opportunities for more local people to get involved
  • arrange further park-related activities
  • apply for funding for projects such as the successful orchard planting
  • encourage better working with and representation at Luton Friends of Parks and Green Spaces
  • engage with Luton Borough Council about improvements to the park

Join our monthly litter pick

We meet every first Saturday of the month at 10 am by the Green Flag near the orchard.

Pickers and bags will be provided, but please bring your own gloves if you can.

Upcoming dates:

  • Saturday 1 October
  • Saturday 5 November
  • Saturday 3 December

Looking forward to seeing you there. If you would like more information, message us on Facebook, say hello at one of our litter picks or drop a line to peoplespark@friendsofhightown.org with your name and number and how you would like to be involved, and we will be in touch. Do also watch out for local adverts in future as we are released from lockdown.
